SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic – O&M FC of host nation Dominican Republic started off the 2021 Flow Concacaf Caribbean Club Championship with a bang by posting an 11-1 victory over Flames United SC of Sint Maarten in Group A action on Saturday at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo.

Daniel Jamesley led the way with a hat trick after scoring goals in the 41’, 50’ and 79’, while Harold Sanon (3’, 6’) and Hilario Mena (28’, 58’) had braces.

Also getting their names on the scoresheet were Cuba international Aricheel Hernandez (35’), Jackson Tineo 75’ and Wilman Modesta 90’, along with a Flames United own goal to complete the scoring for O&M.

Jayan Gordon scored the lone Flames United goal in the 15’.

Group B also got underway with Delfines del Este of the Dominican Republic battling to a 1-1 draw with Metropolitan of Puerto Rico at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez.

It was a tight, hotly contested battle throughout with both defenses rising up to keep the opposing attack at bay.

It looked like the two sides would settle for a scoreless draw until a frenetic final 15 minutes of action, beginning with Jorge Rivera’s excellent right-footed finish in the 83’ to hand Metropolitan a 1-0 lead.

The visiting Boricuas were feeling confident about coming away with the full three points, but in the 90+5’, Delfines del Este’s Yessy Mena, who had several scoring opportunities through the match, did well to latch onto a cross a turn a shot into net to earn his side a late point.
