MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica – On Wednesday, the United States started its 2013 CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship campaign in the same way that its predecessors have kicked off previous editions of the competition: it won by a large margin.

With the 8-0 triumph over Trinidad & Tobago at Catherine Hall Stadium, the Americans are now 4-0-0 in openers, scoring 33 goals and conceding none.

The victory over the Caribbean champion also marked another milestone for the U.S. as it came the first team to break the tournament’s 100-goal barrier, when Zoe Morse netted off an 82nd minute header.

That feat is illuminated even further by the fact it was achieved in just 16 games and only one other team – Canada – has scored more than 40 goals.
