St. Kitts int’l Harris taken in MLS re-entry draft

DALLAS, Texas -- For the second time in his career, St. Kitts & Nevis international Atiba Harris will don the uniform for FC Dallas.

Harris, 29, was selected by the club in the second round of the Major League Soccer re-entry draft Thursday.

Drafting clubs will be required to make a genuine offer to the player within seven days. In the event that an agreement cannot be reached between the drafting club and the player, the drafting club will hold the right of first refusal for that player in MLS.

The 6-foot-3, 185-lb. Harris also has played for Real Salt Lake -- where he became the first player from St. Kitts to sign with an MLS side in 2006 -- Chivas USA, Vancouver Whitecaps, Colorado Rapids and, most recently, the San Jose Earthquakes.

He recorded four goals in 24 games for San Jose during 2014 the season.

In his two-year stay with FC Dallas in 2009-2010, Harris scored six goals in 41 appearances. He started in the 2010 MLS Cup final, a 2-1 loss to Colorado.

A native of St. Peters, St. Kitts, Harris enjoyed his most productive MLS season for the Rapids in 2013, scoring five goals in 29 appearances.

During a nine-year MLS career, he has scored 26 in 191 regular-season outings.

Harris has netted 12 goals in 33 matches for St. Kitts after making his international debut at as a 15-year-old in 2003. He also appeared with the U-13, U-15, U-17, U-20 and U-23 teams for his native country.
