Schafer to hold first Jamaica training

KINGSTON – Jamaica head coach Winfried Schafer has called in 24 domestic-league players for his first training session since being named head coach on July 17.

The squad will gather on Wednesday in advance of World Cup qualifiers at Panama on September 6 and home to Costa Rica four days later.

With two points from six games, the Reggae Boyz sit last in the six-team CONCACAF Hexagonal – the region’s final round of qualifying for Brazil 2014 – and are five points behind fourth-place Honduras.  The top three teams automatically qualify for the World Cup finals, while the fourth-place finisher enters into a two-legged playoff against New Zealand, the Oceania winner.
