CHICAGO – Assistant coach Dave Sarachan will be in charge when the United States faces host Portugal in an international friendly on November 14, U.S. Soccer announced Tuesday.

The 63-year-old former Chicago Fire head coach takes over, on a temporary basis, from Bruce Arena, who resigned from the top post after the Americans were eliminated from qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

It will be the last match of the year for the U.S., which captured its sixth CONCACAF Gold Cup title in July.
