The Valley, Anguilla (15 October, 2013) – FIFA Vice President and CONCACAF President Jeffrey Webb accompanied the FIFA World Cup Trophy to Dominica and Anguilla this week.

“Bringing the FIFA World Cup to smaller island nations is important because the prize serves as a mantle of inspiration to youth and football fans,” President Webb told a gathering at the trophy viewing ceremony.

Combined the populations of Dominica and Anguilla are less than 100,000 persons.

In Anguilla, President Webb also congratulated the national under 20 girls team on their recent qualification to the Caribbean Football Union final round of qualifiers.

He highlighted the country’s infrastructure and player development since their full affiliation to FIFA in 1996.

The next stop for the FIFA World Cup Trophy is St. Vincent and the Grenadines on its 80-country tour ahead of next year’s showpiece FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
