MEXICO CITY, Mexico.  The Mexico Under 17 women’s national team, current runner-up of Concacacaf completed another week of preparation with a friendly match against Cruz Azul as part of preparation for the Championship to be played in Managua, Nicaragua in April.

The match took place in the facilities of the Centro de Alto Rendimiento of the Mexican Football Federation and ended with a win 2-0 for the Mexican Sub 17. Mariana Elizondo (42) and Natalia Mauleón (53) scored the goals.

Head Coach Monica Vergara Rubio is scheduled to gather the squad of 26 players on April 1 to begin the last part of preparation for the 2018 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship being held in Nicaragua from April 19-29.

"I am very happy with the performance of the players in the field,” said Vergara. “In this camp, I had the opportunity to observe 26 girls; four of them were goalkeepers, in several positions three each and the competition between them was good. During these days of work, we had progress in the operation and tactical understanding. Today, we close with the game, which for us is a final exam. I liked it because there were many repetitions of what was practiced in the week,” highlighted Vergara.

Ahead of the last phase of preparation for the Under 17 Championship of Concacaf in Nicaragua, Vergara said, "We will continue to reinforce to reach the optimum point in our World Cup that is already coming. Prior to our trip to Nicaragua, we will work on more specific things of the rivals that we will have to face in the CONCACAF competition so that the players have the necessary tools to be able to face the upcoming commitments,” she concluded.
