Honduras int’l Costly joins Gaziantepspor

GAZIANTEP, Turkey – Honduras international Carlo Costly has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Gaziantepspor, the Turkish club announced Thursday.

The 32-year-old striker spent the first half of the year with Real España, scoring seven goals during the 2014 Honduran Apertura season.

Gaziantepspor will be Costly’s tenth club, having previous spells Platense (Honduras), Belchatow (Poland), Birmingham City (England), Vaslui (Romania), Atlas (Mexico), Houston Dynamo (USA), Veria (Greece) and Guizhou Zhicheng (China) before joining Real España.

The 32-year-old player is coming off a World Cup campaign in which he started in all three of Honduras’ group stage matches and scored the Catrachos’ lone tournament goal in a 2-1 loss to Ecuador. 

In total, Costly has netted 32 goals in 71 games with the national team.

NOTES: Costly’s father, Allan Costly, represented Honduras at the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain and also played for Real España … Costly has eight career CONCACAF Gold Cup goals, one behind all-time team leader Carlos Pavon.
