Henry named in Canada U20 camp roster
OTTAWA - The Canadian Soccer Association on Tuesday named a 23-player roster for its men's under-20 national team training camp in Mexico City, February 11-16. The gathering will close two days before the start of the 2013 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship, which will be played in Puebla, Mexico.

The contingent includes 11 European-based players, but is highlighted by the selection of Toronto FC's Doneil Henry. An experienced defender, the 19-year-old has three caps with the full national team and has already appeared in 11 CONCACAF Champions League games. He also represented Canada in the 2011 CONCACAF Under-17 Championship and the 2012 CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying tournament.

"It will be a difficult tournament," said under-20 head coach Nick Dasovic. "Our goal for now is to make it to the quarter-final match which will give us a one-off chance to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in June.

"Whether we enter the match as a first or second seed from our group, we will deal with that."

Dasovic also stated that his team will be buoyed by an increased number of players playing in professional environments both at home and abroad.

"The strength of the squad is helped by the professional club academies in Canada and by the fact that we have a number of players on the squad that play in Europe," Dasovic commented. "But at the same time, we need to realize that as we get better - all of our competition is getting better as well."

Canada will open the competition on February 18 with a clash against Cuba, before taking on Nicaragua four days later.

Dasovic will need to trim his roster down to 20 players ahead of the CONCACAF finals.
