CONCACAF duo learn Beach Soccer World Cup destiny

ESPINHO, Portugal – CONCACAF’s two representatives at the 2015 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup discovered their group stage opposition during the Final Draw on Tuesday.

Under the direction of FIFA Beach Soccer Committee member Joan Curso, the 16-team field was divided into four groups.

Host Portugal was placed directly into Group A and will face Japan, Argentina and Senegal.

Costa Rica, which is appearing in the tournament for the second time after qualifying in 2009, will compete in Group B with Switzerland, Oman and Italy.

Mexico, which captured a record third CONCACAF title earlier in the month, is making its fourth appearance after also competing in 2007, 2008 and 2010 and will take on past world champion Brazil, as well as Spain and Iran, in Group C.

Group D consists of Russia, Paraguay, Tahiti and Madagascar.

The competition will take place July 9-19 at Espinho Stadium.
