ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada – On the heels of the development of its new strategic plan, the Grenada Football Association (GFA) has launched a process of strengthening its partnerships with stakeholders.

Engaging the business community is a key component of the overall vision that encapsulates the GFA’s mandate: Your Game, Our Passion, One Goal.

Towards that objective, seven exciting pillars have been developed -- better financial returns, national teams, organizational development, infrastructure, governance, clubs and competitions and technical department.

Speaking recently to a gathering of business leaders, GFA General Secretary Ken-Martin Whiteman emphasized that governance is an important pillar because it needs to be at the core his organization’s work.

“We are aware of the public image of the GFA and we are working to change it,” expressed Whiteman. “We will implement policies that allow for transparency, accountability and the overall well-being of the organization. In short, we want you to have confidence in the work of the GFA.”

In regard to infrastructure, GFA President Cheney Joseph is continually looking at ways to improve the delivery of football programs throughout Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

“The GFA is keen on building a Technical Centre at Pearls, St. Andrew, that will support the development of our elite youth,” he commented. “We also wish to continue the strides we have made in St. Patrick’s at Fond by adding seating at the facility.”

GFA officials have been actively promoting partnership opportunities to businesses, emphasizing branding on team kits and at venues that help to companies and their products. Programs for partnership include the National Youth League, Premier League, Conference Leagues, Super 8 and Carnival Cup.

One of the exciting upcoming events that Grenada will host is the Windward Islands Men’s Competition to be held from May 23-27, also featuring the national teams of St. Vincent & the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Dominica.

The GFA is confident that these plans for advancement rekindle the flames of cooperation.
