BAKU, Azerbaijan - CONCACAF champion the United States will face France, Gambia and North Korea in the first round of the Under-17 Women's World Cup, finishing the opening stage against the Koreans in a rematch of the 2008 championship final.
Friday's draw in Baku also pitted CONCACAF runner-up Canada against the host Azerbaijanis, Colombia and Nigeria in Group A, while Mexico was placed in Group C with New Zealand, Brazil and 2010 runner-up Japan.
The Americans, which fell to North Korea in extra time in 2008, will start against France on September 22, the opening day of the tournament against France in Group B in Lankaran, Azerbaijan. Earlier that day, Canada will face Nigeria in the capital of Baku.
Mexico will begin play a day later in Baku against New Zealand.
Two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals on October 4-5 with the semifinals set for October 9 and the final and third-place matches scheduled for four days later.
