MARABELLA, Trinidad -- Host Trinidad surrendered an 86th-minute goal and fell 2-1 to Nigeria on Wednesday, jeopardizing the Soca Princesses chances of advancing in the Under-17 Women's World Cup.

Liana Hinds scored in the 36th minute, rallying Trinidad to a 1-1 tie after Francisca Ordega gave Nigeria the lead eight minutes earlier.

Mexico was beaten 4-1 by South Korea on Wednesday in Scarborough, Tobago, eliminating the CONCACAF runner-up from quarterfinal contention.

After suffering a 9-0 thrashing by Germany in its opener, Mexico was equal with South Korea 1-1 on a goal by Fernanda Pina in the 37th minute. It fell behind again three minutes later and then allowed two more goals in the second half.

Mexico remained in last place in Group B with no points and having been outscored 13-1 in its two games, just behind South Africa which lost 10-1 to Germany earlier in the day and has been outscored 13-2.

Nigeria scored the winner when Winifred Eyebhoria crossed over the head of Trinidad keeper Linfah Jones, leaving Loveth Ayila an easy conversion for the winner.

The result left Trinidad third place in Group A with three points, tied with defending champion North Korea but trailing on goal difference. It will need to defeat North Korea in its final group match on Sunday to reach the knockout stage.

Mexico will face South Africa in its final group match on Sunday.
