VANCOUVER, British Columbia - The United States went ahead 38 seconds after kickoff and overwhelmed the Dominican Republic 14-0 Friday night in a record-setting victory in CONCACAF Olympic women's qualifying.

Abby Wambach scored her126th career goal on the United States first push in the offensive half and added another in the 19th minute. Amy Rodriguez, who entered the game to start the second half, scored five times and Heather O'Reilly had three.

Carli Lloyd, Rachel Buehler, Tobin Heath and Lauren Cheney also tallied for the Americans, who are seeking a fifth straight trip to the Olympics.

The result eclipsed the previous highest margin of victory in the CONCACAF finals, set by the United States in an 8-0 win over Haiti in 2004.

The Dominicans entered the match having won all three games in Caribbean qualifying without surrendering a goal. The loss exceeded their previous worst defeat, having been beaten 7-0 by Trinidad in 2006 and Haiti in 2003.

The match had its downside for the United States, which saw midfielder Ali Krieger carried off in the 42nd minute after Leonela Mojica raked her right knee with an extended foot.

"We don't know. We will find out more tomorrow," U.S. coach Pia Sundhage said. "It could be a serious injury."

The match was the fourth shutout in as many games at the CONCACAF Olympic qualifying finals, and the third lopsided result, following Canada's 6-0 win over Haiti on Thursday and Mexico's 5-0 victory over Guatemala earlier Friday.

The United States dominated from the start, not allowing the Dominican Republic any possession in the American half until the 10th minute, taking a 7-0 lead by the 32nd minute outshooting the Caribbean islanders 25-1 in the first half.

The one-sided nature had some television commentators critical of Sundhage's overt reactions on the bench.

"When we score, I am happy," Sundhage said. "I use body language and when we score I am happy and proud. I hope that it's contagious. This tournament is important. We want to go to the Olympics. If we keep that feeling we will win the next game."

The Dominicans, which managed only three shots and one on goal in the entire match, fielded a relatively young side, including three players 18 or younger against a side ranked No. 1 in the world by FIFA.

Dominican keeper Heidy Salazar produced several athletic saves to prevent an even more lopsided result.

The United States will next face Guatemala on Sunday, when the Dominicans will play Mexico.
