Making only its third appearance in the CONCACAF women's championship, and first since 2000, "La Seleccion Chapina" will draw heavily upon its under-20 women's side that finished third in its group behind Canada and Costa Rica at the CONCACAF championship this past April. No fewer than 11 players from the U-20 side comprise the 20-player Guatemala roster, led by midfielder Ana Lucia Martinez, who scored two of Guatemala's three goals in the CONCACAF championship. Melany Cayetano led Guatemala with three goals in its two qualifying matches against El Salvador and Belize. Wendy Pineda led the team with three goals in five games during its bronze-medal winning performance at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Venezuela in July-August, while Rocio Sosa had two goals in its finale against 4-1 win over Nicaragua that clinched the honor. Nearly half of the roster, including Martinez, are teammates on the UNIFUT club side in the Guatemalan women's league.
