Coming off the success of its junior counterpart, "Las Ticas" are looking to match the feat of the under-20 side by qualifying for its first Women's World Cup. Thirty-one-year-old Randall Chacon, previously an assistant coach at men's first division club Herediano who qualified the U-20s for Germany this past year, now also leads the senior side. He brings with him a relatively experienced side with midfielder Shirley Cruz, who plays for Olympique Lyon in France, and captain Katherine Alvarado. Costa Rica also will be bolstered by a group from its U-20 contingent, including goalkeeper Priscilla Tapia and Raquel Rodriguez Cedeno, the leading scorer for "Las Ticas" at the U-17 and U-20 levels.
