Coming off a dominating qualifying performance and its silver-medal winning effort at the Central American and Caribbean Games in July-August in Venezuela, the Soca Princesses head to CONCACAF Women's World Cup Qualifying expecting to compete with the likes of Mexico, according to coach Jamaal Shabazz, a former Guyana men's national team manager. Trinidad won all three of its qualifying games by a combined 14-1 score over St. Luica, Barbados and Guyana, albeit on home soil. Kanaya Cordner led the team with five goals, and had another four to pace T&T at the CAC Games. Cordner is one of several players who have recently finished their college careers in the United States, a list which also includes captain Maylee Attin-Johnson. The roster includes a 20-year range of players from 15-year-old U.S.-based midfielder Liana Hinds, who scored two goals at the U-17 Women's World Cup in Trinidad in September, to 35-year-old goalkeeper Nicole Mitchell, brought into challenge regular No. 1 Kamika Forbes
