In charge of the Mexican women's program for more than a decade, Leonardo Cuellar, the former Mexican national team, Pumas UNAM and North American Soccer League veteran, brings a mixed squad of veteran and youthful talent. Maribel Dominguez, who has played in Spain since 2005, is the most experienced member of the squad, which also includes Veronica Perez, who played for the now defunct St. Louis Atletica in the U.S. Women's Professional Soccer league this past season. The team is further enhanced by defenders Alina Garciamendez and Natalie Garcia from the U.S. women's college ranks, both of whom started all four games for Mexico at this past year's Under-20 Women's World Cup. Mexico will be without Monica Ocampo and Renae Cuellar, both of whom were injured at the Peace Queen's Cup in South Korea a week before the start of CONCACAF Women's World Cup Qualifying.
