BARQUISIMETO, Venezuela - Rodney Wallace scored in the 41st minute and Jose Miguel Cubero added a second in the 63rd to lead Costa Rica to a 2-0 victory over Venezuela in a friendly Thursday night.

While Venezuela used a young roster largely of locally based talent, the Ticos used a team comprised of domestic players along with several from North American and Scandinavian leagues.

The win was Costa Rica's fifth in 10 tries against the Vino Tinto, who are in third place in South American World Cup qualifying after four matches.

Costa Rica will begin its attempt to qualify for the 2014 World Cup on June 8 at home against El Salvador.
