Rodriguez, who turned 17 on Thursday, scored in the 42nd and 52nd minutes and followed her strikes in the under-17 and under-20 CONCACAF championships earlier this year.

The victory gave Costa Rica six points atop Group B along with the United States, which routed Guatemala 9-0 later Saturday that put both in the semifinals and set up a Monday clash for the group title.

A victory in the semifinals will earn the winner a berth in next year's Women's World Cup, while the loser would still be able to qualify. The winner of the third-place match on November 8 will enter a two-leg playoff with the fifth-place team from Europe for another berth.

The loss was Haiti's second in three days, having been beaten 5-0 by the United States on Thursday, and left it with zero points and virtually no chance of advancing.

Costa took the initiative from the opening kickoff, with Rodriguez shooting high in the third minute and dominating possession near nearly the entire match.

After testing Haitian keeper Geralda Saintillius several times, Costa Rica went ahead in the 35th. Katherine Alvarado launched a long ball over the Haitian defense that Shirley Cruz ran on to, lifted over an onrushing Santillius at the top of the area, and then finishing with a touch into an open goal at the six with Maria Jean-Pierre chasing.

Rodriguez capitalized on a fortunate bounce to increase the lead to 2-0. Daniela Cruz touched a ball into the area from the right side, and Haiti defender Kenci Marseille made a sliding effort to knock it away, only to have the ball fall to Rodriguez standing unmarked near the penalty spot, where she easily finished just inside the left post.

Haiti started the second half much brighter, earning a corner and forcing Costa Rica's defense into two desperate clearances in the first two minutes.

But Costa Rica soon resumed its dominance and Rodriguez added more insurance in the 52nd. Marseille tried to clear a ball approaching the penalty area to the side, but instead sent it directly to Maria Bararantes.

The 21-year-old midfielder settled and quickly served in a curling cross with the outside of her left foot to Rodriguez, who ran on to head at the edge of the six-yard box.

Haiti had little possession for much of the game and generated only a handful of chances. Jean-Pierre sent a cross into the penalty area in the 27th to Kimberly Boulos, who mangled her first touch and let a chance go begging. Adeline Saintilmond, who often was left alone up front, was able to settle a free kick as Haiti beat Costa Rica's offside trap in the 40th, but Daniela Cruz raced back to block the attempted shot.

Rodriguez nearly had her third in the 81st, launching a right-footed effort from the top corner of the penalty area that Santillius was able to push around the near post.

The victory was Costa Rica's third in four matches over Haiti in the CONCACAF women's championship and third straight, winning by a combined 10-1.
