CANCUN, Mexico -- CONCACAF unveiled the official logo for its Women's World Cup Qualifying tournament on Friday, revealing the emblem in a press conference with Quintana Roo Govenor Felix Gonzalez Canto.
Present at the event were Quintana Roo Governor Felix Gonzalez Canto, Mexican Football Federation President Justino Compean, Local Organizing Committee President Marta RodrÃguez and CONCACAF Deputy Secretary Jill Fracisco.
The logo features the iconic Temple of Tulum in the ancient ruins of the Mayan walled city along the Yucatan Peninsula in a blue hue.
The CONCACAF Women's World Cup Qualifying tournament is set for October 28-November 8 in Cancun and the nearby city of Playa del Carmen, both along the Caribbean Sea. The winner and runner-up will qualify for next year's Women's World Cup in Germany.
This is the first time Mexico has hosted the confederation's women's nations championship. The United States has won six of seven titles dating back to 1991, including the last three.
