PANAMA CITY - Honduras held Panama to a 0-0 draw on Friday, disappointing a crowd of 27,000 at Estadio Rommel Fernandez but leaving both in position to advance to the final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying.

The result left Panama and Canada atop Group C with 10 points each, but with the Canaleros ahead on goal difference. Honduras was two points behind with all three teams having one match remaining.

Panama will travel to face already eliminated Cuba - which has lost all five games in the semifinal round -- on Tuesday, while Honduras will be at home against the Canadians. Panama will only need a draw to advance while Honduras will need a victory.

The draw - earned on a sodden field -- was the seventh between Panama and Honduras, with the Catrachos having won 20 and Panama nine of the meetings.

Honduras had more of the possession in the first half and had its best chance just before the break but were denied by Panamanian keeper Jaime Penedo.

Carlo Costly had Honduras' best chance in the 77th, but again was denied by Penedo.
