NEW YORK - The Bahamas withdrew from World Cup qualifying on Friday, leaving Group 3 in the first group phase of CONCACAF qualifying with three teams.

Bahamas Football Association President Anton Sealy said the reason was due to the incomplete construction of the Thomas Robinson National Stadium project in Nassau.

The Bahamas beat the Turks and Caicos Islands 10-0 on aggregate, including a 6-0 second-leg victory at home on July 9, in the preliminary round of qualifying to advance to the Group Stage, the first time it had advanced out of the early phase since 2000.

It was drawn into Group 3 with Dominica, Nicaragua and Panama for the first group stage and was to begin at Panama on September 6.

Group 3 will now be played as a three-team affair, with the winner joining the five other group winners in the semifinal stage of CONCACAF qualifying.
