CHICAGO -- Bob Bradley will return to coach the United States for another four years, agreeing to a contract extension Monday that would see him remain at the helm through the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The U.S. Soccer Federation announced the contract renewal via an e-mailed press release. No financial terms were disclosed. A teleconference with reporters, Bradley and federation president Sunil Gulati was scheduled for Tuesday.

The 52-year-old Bradley led the United States to the second round of the World Cup in June before being eliminated by Ghana in extra time.

Gulati reportedly met within the past week with former German national team captain and manager Juergen Klinsman, who also was interviewed for the position in 2006 before not being able to come to an agreement over the amount of control of the team.

Bradley has won 38 games, drawn eight and lost 20 in his nearly four years. His contract was due to expire at the end of December.

His tenure has included winning the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup and a runner-up finish at the 2009 Confederations Cup, the first trip to a world championship final by a U.S. senior men's team.

The United States also reached the final of the 2009 Gold Cup before being beaten by Mexico and finished atop CONCACAF World Cup qualifying under Bradley.

Bradley follows his predecessor and former mentor Bruce Arena, who also coached the U.S. national team through two World Cup cycles. Arena, the current Los Angeles Galaxy manager who coached the U.S. through the 2002 and 2006 World Cups, had Bradley as his assistant at the University of Virginia, D.C. United and the 1996 U.S. Olympic team.

Since the World Cup, the United States lost to Brazil 2-0 in the New York suburb of East Rutherford, New Jersey, on August 10 and next will play Poland in Chicago on October 9 with a game against Colombia three days later in the Philadelphia suburb of Chester.
