MEXICO CITY - The Mexican under-17 national team defeated the under-17 side of Pumas 2-0 on Thursday at the Mexican Football Federation's Centro de Alto Rendimiento (High Performance Center).

Santos' Manuel Tejeda gave Mexico a 1-0 lead after converting a 71st minute penalty kick. Six minutes later, Victor Zuñiga of Cruz Azul doubled the lead.

Mexico will play another friendly on February 12 against third-division team Tecamachalco, before traveling to Panama for games against Arabe Unido (Feb. 18), and the under-17 national teams of Panama (Feb. 21) and the United States (Feb. 23).

The young Tricolores are preparing for the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship, which will be played April 6-19 in Panama.
