QUERETARO, Mexico - Jorman Aguilar scored in the 22nd minute and led Panama to a 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso on Monday in the debut match for "Los Canaleros" at the Under-17 World Cup.

Panama, which held opponents without a goal in four of seven games in Central American or CONCACAF qualifying and didn't allow more than one goal in the other three, held the African champ without a shot for the first 20 minutes.

Aguilar scored the only goal Panama needed by capitalizing on a defensive mistake by Issouf Paro, who had a weak header bounce in the area and the Rio Abajo striker pounced.

Burkina Faso rarely tested Panamanian keeper Ivan Picart, but did force him to make a diving save in the 85th on a low shot by Ousmane Nana.

Picart also thwarted a low curling free kick by Yaya Bamba in injury time. Panama next faces Ecuador, a 6-1 loser to Germany in its Group E opener, on Thursday.
