December 8, 1954: Goals by Giovanni Hernandez (32nd) and Alvaro Hidalgo (68th) led host Costa Rica to a 2-0 victory over Curacao during the inaugural CCCF (Confederacion Centroamericana y Caribe de Futbol) Youth Championship at San Jose's Estadio Nacional … The Ticos went on to capture the 1954 title by finishing first in the six-team group with seven points (3-0-1 record).
December 9, 1943: Miguel Cruz, Julian Linares, Ricardo Monterrosa and Locho Torres all scored for host El Salvador in a 4-2 triumph over defending champion Costa Rica during the final round group of the 1943 CCCF (Confederacion Centroamericana y Caribe de Futbol) Championship at San Salvador's Estadio Flor Blanca … The Cuscatlecos finished the competition tied with Guatemala for first place (4-1-1, 9 points), however, they claimed their first regional title on goal differences (+17 to +10).
December 10, 1986: After winning the CONCACAF Champions' Cup the year before, Trinidad & Tobago's Defence Force FC were the first Caribbean club to compete for the Copa Interamericana, when it lost 1-0 to visiting South American champion, Argentinos Juniors (Argentina) at Port of Spain's National Stadium … The only goal of the match was scored by Armando Dely Valdes of Panama (27th).
December 11, 1998: Goals by Maribel Dominguez, Monica Gerardo and Iris Mora led host Mexico to a 3-1 triumph over Argentina in the first-leg of the 1999 FIFA Women' World Cup Qualifying Playoff at Toluca's Estadio Nemesio Diez … The Tricolores won the second-leg eight days later in Argentina to qualify for their first FIFA Women's World Cup (USA 1999). December 12, 1979: After playing to a scoreless draw in the first-leg, Cuba lost 1-0 to visiting Haiti in the return match at La Habana's Estadio Pedro Marrero during the Caribbean Second Round of the 1980 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying tournament … Despite the loss, the Leones del Caribe progressed to the Olympic Men's Football Tournament in Moscow, U.S.S.R. replacing the USA, which withdrew from the event. December 13, 1995: Goals by Ronald Gonzalez (25th), Roy Myers (38th), Rolando Fonseca (70th), Gerald Drummond (74th) and Giancarlo Morera (85th) gave host Deportivo Saprissa of Costa Rica a 5-0 win over Guadeloupe's CS Moulien in the opening match of the 1995 CONCACAF Champions' Cup final round at San José's Estadio Ricardo Saprissa … Deportivo Saprissa went on to defeat CSD Municipal of Guatemala (December 15) and then tied Costa Rica's LD Alajuelense (December 17) to finish first in the final group with seven points (2-0-1 record) and claim its second CONCACAF title. December 14, 2000: Host Joe Pubic FC of Trinidad & Tobago captured its second CFU (Caribbean Football Union) Club Championship by finishing first in the 2000 final round with five points (1-0-2 record) after playing to a 1-1 draw against Jamaica's Harbour View FC at Macoya's Dr. João Havelange Centre of Excellence … Angus Eve (47th) gave Joe Public the lead, but Fabian Taylor (77th) scored the equalizer for Harbour View. December 15, 1991: El Salvador's CD Atlético Marte posted a 3-0 win over Real Estelí FC of Nicaragua to conclude the Central American Qualifying Group for the 1991-1992 CONCACAF Cup Winners Cup at the Estadio Mateo Flores in Guatemala City, Guatemala … The victory gave Atlético Marte first place honors with five points (2-0-1 record) from a four-team group that also included Deportivo Saprissa of Costa Rica and host CSD Comunicaciones … Atlético Marte went on to the tournament's final round the following year and captured the inaugural title.
