November 22, 2006: Álvaro Guerrero scored two goals, while Kurt Bernard added another, as host Puntarenas FC of Costa Rica defeated Honduras' CD Olimpia 3-2 in the first-leg of the 2007 UNCAF (Central America) Torneo Interclubes Final at the Estadio Miguel Lito Pérez … Despite losing the second-leg in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, to level the aggregate score (3-3), Puntarenas FC defeated CD Olimpia 3:1 on penalties to capture its first Central American title.
November 23, 1992: USA took points from Brazil at its second consecutive FIFA Futsal World Cup as the sides played to a 2-2 draw in the second round of the 1992 competition at the Hong Kong Coliseum … After Jim Gabarra (18th) gave the Stars & Stripes the lead, the Samba Kings answered with goals from Chiquinho (32nd) and Ortiz (36th) … Dale Ervine scored the equalizer with three minutes remaining for the USA … The Stars & Stripes, who were the first CONCACAF team to defeat the Samba Kings in the previous FIFA Futsal World Cup (1989), would later draw against the Netherlands and then beat Argentina to progress to the semifinals … After topping Iran in the semis (November 27), the USA lost to Brazil in the championship match (November 28). November 24, 1973: Miguel Angel Monge (27th) scored the first goal in the opening match of the inaugural Men's Football Tournament at the 1973 Central American Games as El Salvador defeated Costa Rica 1-0 at the Estadio Mateo Flores in Guatemala City, Guatemala … The tournament, which also doubled as the qualifier to the CAC (Central American & Caribbean Games) Games the next year, concluded eight days later with Panama and Nicaragua finishing first and second, respectively, and progressing to the 1974 event in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. November 25, 2004: USA finished second with four points (1-1-1 record) in Group C of the 2004 FIFA Futsal World Cup after playing to a 1-1 draw against Japan at the National Taiwan University in Taipei City, Chinese Taipei … Andy Guastaferro (14th) gave the Stars & Stripes the lead, however, Kenichiro Kogure (39th) leveled it for the Samurai Blue … USA became the first CONCACAF team to progress three times past the first round out of the FIFA Futsal World Cup.
November 26, 1974: CONCACAF Champion CSD Municipal of Guatemala posted a 1-0 victory over visiting Club Atlético Independiente of Argentina (South American champion) in the second game of the 1974 Copa Interamericana at the Estadio Mateo Flores in Guatemala City … After losing the first match (1-0) two days earlier, CSD Municipal leveled the series with a goal by Jose Emilio Mitrovich (50th), however, Independiente prevailed on penalty kicks 4:2 to claim the title.
November 27, 2010: Amy Rodriguez (40th) scored the game-winner for host USA in a 1-0 victory over Italy in the second-leg of the home-and-away qualifying playoff for the FIFA Women's World Cup (Germany 2011) at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois … The Stars & Stripes had also won the first-leg 1:0 a week earlier and therefore claimed the playoff series 2-0 on aggregate … The USA, after missing out on a direct berth to Germany by finishing third at the CONCACAF Qualifying tournament held in Mexico, qualified for its sixth consecutive FIFA Women's World Cup; a CONCACAF record
November 28, 1998: Joe Public FC defeated Caledonia AIA, 1-0, in an all-Trinidad & Tobago final at the 1998 CFU (Caribbean Football Union) Club Championship in Port of Spain … Angus Eve (25th) had the only goal of the match for Joe Public, who had eliminated Notre Dame SC of Barbados and Jamaica's Waterhouse FC in the first round and semifinals, respectively, to reach the Caribbean final. November 29, 1993: Costa Rica won its first gold medal at the Central American & Caribbean Games Men's Football Tournament after defeating Mexico, 2-0, in the 1993 final at the Estadio Isabelino Cora in Arroyo, Puerto Rico … Jose Pablo Fonseca (40th) and Wilson Muñoz (49th) scored for the Ticos, who won all five of their games. November 30, 1991: The USA captured the inaugural FIFA Women's World Cup after defeating Norway 2-1 in the 1991 final at the Tianhe Stadium in Guangzhou, China … Michelle Akers-Stahl scored two of her tournament leading 10 goals in the match as the Stars & Stripes finished a perfect 6-0-0 record at the event
