November 8-14
November 8, 2007: After losing to Inter Moengotapoe of Surinam and drawing against the Puerto Rico Islanders, Harbour View FC of Jamaica earned its first win in Group C of the 2007 CFU (Caribbean Football Union) Club Championship by defeating Antigua & Barbuda's Hitachi Centre Sap FC, 10-0, at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad & Tobago … Kavin Bryan scored three times for Harbour View, while Fabian Taylor had two tallies and Richard Edwards, Jermaine Hue, Keith Kelly, Kamar Peterkin and Loxley Thomas added a goal each in the win that secured the team a quarterfinal place … After eliminating Portmore United FC of Jamaica in the quarterfinals (November 11), Harbour View went on to defeat Trinidadian sides of San Juan Jabloteh (November 14) and Joe Public FC (November 16) in the semifinals and final, respectively, to capture its second Caribbean title.
November 9, 2010: At the Kralendijk Stadion in Kralendijk, Netherlands Antilles (now Curacao), Yurizan Beltran scored eight times, while Maikel Chang had four goals to lead Cuba to a Confederation record 29-0 victory against the British Virgin Islands in Group A of the Caribbean Qualification for the 2011 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship … Randy Lizama, Humberto Diaz added to the Leones del Caribe's offense with three tallies each, while Osay Martinez, Jose Macias and Ricardo Peña had two goals apiece … Closing out the scoring for the Cuba were single strikes from Daniel Cantero, Jorge Corrales and three own-goals from the British Virgin Islands.
November 10, 2007: Morgan Plata scored four times, while Ricardo Villalobos added one for Mexico in the 5-2 triumph over Uruguay in the semifinals of the 2007 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup at the Copacabana Beach Soccer Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil … The win gave the Tricolores a place in the finals of the FIFA tournament for the first time in history … Unfortunately, Mexico had to settle for the silver medal losing to the host the following day.
November 11, 2001: William Sunsing (5th) scored the game-winner for visiting Costa Rica in a 1-0 triumph over Jamaica at Kingston's National Stadium to finish atop the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying Final Round (for Japan/Korea 2002) Group with 23 points (7-1-2 record) … It was the first time since the 1990 CONCACAF qualifiers that the Ticos took first-place in the final round … Costa Rica finished ahead of Mexico (second) and USA (third) in the six-team group as all three qualified to the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
November 12, 2005: Trinidad & Tobago became the first Caribbean nation to host a FIFA World Cup Qualifying Playoff Match as it held Bahrain of the Asian Football Confederation to a 1-1 draw in the first-leg of the home-and-away series at Port of Spain's Hasely Crawford Stadium … After Salman Ghuloom (72nd) gave the visitors the lead, Christopher Birchall (76th) scored the equalizer for the Soca Warriors … Trinidad & Tobago continued to make history as it won the second-leg in Bahrain 1-0 four days later to qualify for its first FIFA World Cup (Germany 2006).
November 13, 2008: Goals by Victoria DiMartino and Courtney Verloo helped the USA to a 2-1 victory over Germany in the semifinals of the inaugural FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup at the QE II Stadium in Christchurch, New Zealand … Three days later, the Stars & Stripes became the first CONCACAF team to compete for the Women's U-17 crown, however, they had to settle for the silver medal, losing 2-1 to Korea DPR after extra time.
November 14, 1982: For the second time in history, SV Robinhood of Surinam earned a draw in Mexico during the final of a CONCACAF Champions' Cup as they played to a 0:0 stalemate in the first encounter of the 1982 edition against host Pumas UNAM in Queretaro … SV Robinhood, who were playing their first Champions' Cup match in Mexico since a 1-1 draw against Club América in the 1977 finale, were beaten by Pumas UNAM in the second encounter 3-2 three days later in Mexico City … It was Pumas UNAM's second Champions' Cup in three years
