As part of a year-long commemoration, a weekly feature titled "This Week in CONCACAF History" will take a brief look back at some of the confederation's most historic games and happenings.

Through "This Week in CONCACAF History" you can revisit the region's most memorable people, events and crowning achievements.

October 25-31

October 25, 1975: For the first time in history, the gold medal ata Pan American Games Men's Tournament was shared between two teams, as host Mexico played to a 1-1 draw against Brazil after extra time in the 1975 final held at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City before 105,000 spectators … Hector Tapia (22nd) gave the Tricolores the lead, but Claudio Adão (85th) tied it for the Samba Kings … The match was abandoned at the 108th minute due to floodlight failure.

October 26, 2005: Shayron Bernardus scored two goals, while Edgard Cassiani, Anthony Martis and Wender Meulens added one apiece to give host SV Centro Social Deportivo Barber of Netherlands Antilles (now Curacao) a 6-2 win over Antigua & Barbuda's Bassa FC in the second-leg of the quarterfinals of the 2005 Caribbean Club Championship (qualifier to 2006 CONCACAF Champions' Cup) at the Ergilio Hato Stadium in Willemstad … The victory gave SV Centro Social Deportivo Barber the series 7-3 on aggregate as it progressed to the tournament's semifinals for the first time, however, it was eliminated by Portmore United of Jamaica.

October 27, 1974: After winning the first match 2-1 three days earlier, Guatemala's CSD Municipal claimed its first CONCACAF Champions' Cup by once again defeating visiting SV Transvaal of Surinam by the same score in the 1974 final at the Estadio Mateo Flores in Guatemala City … Jose Emilio Mitrovich had both goals (33rd, 73rd) for CSD Municipal, while Roy Vanenburg (43rd) had the only tally for SV Transvaal in the loss.

October 28, 1987: Mexico's Club América captured its second CONCACAF Champions' Cup after posting a 2-0 second-leg victory over visiting Defence Force of Trinidad & Tobago in the 1987 final at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City … Juan Antonio Luna (63rd) and Antonio Carlos Santos (90th) had both goals for Club América, who drew 1-1 the first-leg against Defence Force a week earlier in Trinidad & Tobago.

October 29, 1961: Salvador Reyes (65th) scored the only goal of the match for Mexico in the 1-0 triumph over visiting Paraguay in the opening-leg of the first-ever CONCACAF-CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying playoff at Mexico City's Estadio Olímpico … The Tricolores secured their fourth-consecutive berth to a FIFA World Cup (Chile 1962) as they held Paraguay to a scoreless draw in the return-leg seven days later in Asuncion.

October 30, 2008: Mexicans Quetzalli Alvarado, Mayte Chavez, Michelle Pye of Canada and El Salvador's Emperatiz Ayala were the first entire CONCACAF officiating crew to do a match at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in New Zealand 2008 … The group-stage encounter, which saw England top Brazil 3-0 at Wellington Stadium, had Pye in charge along with Assistant Referees Ayala, Chavez and Fourth Official Alvarado.

October 31, 1971: The Rochester Lancers were the first USA club to progress to the CONCACAF Champions' Cup Final Round after playing to a 1-1 draw against host Pembroke Hamilton of Bermuda in the second-leg of the North American Zone Qualifying at Hamilton's National Stadium … Prior to the draw, the Lancers had won the first-leg by a score of 4-1 on October 3 … The Lancers were also the first and only team from the USA's North American Soccer League to compete at the Champions' Cup.
