As part of a year-long commemoration, a weekly feature titled "This Week in CONCACAF History" will take a brief look back at some of the confederation's most historic games and happenings.

Through "This Week in CONCACAF History" you can revisit the region's most memorable people, events and crowning achievements.

September 25-30

September 25, 2010: Quetzalli Alvarado (Referee), Mayte Chavez (Assistant Referee), Lixy Enriquez (Assistant Referee), each from Mexico, and Canadian Michelle Pye (Fourth Offical) were the first CONCACAF-only officiating crew to do the third-place encounter at a FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup (2010 in Trinidad & Tobago) … The match, which saw Spain top Korea DPR 1-0 in Port of Spain's Hasely Crawford Stadium.

September 26, 1971: Omar Lorrosa and Oscar Molina scored two goals apiece, while Hugo Torres added another, as host CSD Comunicaciones of Guatemala defeated El Salvador's CD F.A.S. 5-2 in the first-leg of the Central American Qualification First Round Series 4 of the 1971 CONCACAF Champions' Cup at Guatemala City's Estadio Mateo Flores … CSD Comunicaciones won the second-leg (3-0) in Santa Ana, El Salvador seven days later, and then eliminated Aurora FC of Guatemala for a berth into the Final Round, where it finished third in a six-team group.

September 27, 1986: Bermuda's Pembroke Hamilton posted a 1-0 victory over LD Alajuelense of Costa Rica in the second-leg of the 1986 CONCACAF Champions' Cup Semifinals at Hamilton's National Stadium … It was the first time a Bermudian side defeated a Costa Rican club at the Confederation club tournament … However, Pembroke Hamilton was eliminated on aggregate after it lost the first-leg, 4:0, in Alajuela, Costa Rica six days earlier.

September 28, 2000: Canada's Sonia Denoncourt became the first CONCACAF Referee to officiate the gold medal match at the Women's Olympic Football Tournament (Sydney 2000) … Denoncourt was in charge of the final that saw Norway defeat the USA 3-2 after extra time at Sydney Football Stadium.

September 29, 1968: Amaury Epaminondas scored two goals, while Francisco Linares and Felipe Ruvalcaba added a goal apiece for host CD Toluca of Mexico in its 4-1 victory over the USA's New York Greek-American in the first-leg of the North American Qualification Second Round of the 1968 CONCACAF Champions' Cup at Toluca's Estadio Nemesio Díez … The Diablos Rojos went on to win the second-leg (3-2) in New York City the following month and then went on to reach the final round, where they were declared the Confederation Champions after their opponents were disqualified (Aurora FC of Guatemala, Surinam's SV Transvaal).

September 30, 2000: Mexico's Felipe Ramos Rizo became the first CONCACAF Referee to officiate the gold medal match at the Men's Olympic Football Tournament (Sydney 2000) … Ramos Rizo was in charge of the final that had Cameroon defeating Spain 5:3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw at the Olympic Stadium in Sydney, Australia … It was also the first time CONCACAF Referees opened and concluded the Olympic Games as 13 days earlier (September 17), Jamaica's Peter Prendergast officiated the tournament's inaugural match (Italy topped Australia 1-0) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
