April 10.1983: New York Pancyprian-Freedoms were the first USA club to visit Central America during the CONCACAF Champions' Cup since 1972, when they lost, 2-1, to host CD Motagua at the Estadio Tiburcio Carias Andino in Tegucigalpa, Honduras during first-round qualification for the 1983 tournament … NY Pancyprian-Freedoms would win the second-leg 3-1 at home 16 days later to reach the next round, where they were eliminated by the eventual Champions' Cup winner Atlante FC of Mexico.
April 11, 1965: Mexico captured its first CONCACAF Campeonato de Naciones (NORCECA) title by posting a 2-1 win against host Guatemala to claim the top spot in the 1965 final group at Guatemala City's Estadio Mateo Flores … After Jorge Roldan (7th) gave the Chapines the lead, Ernesto Cisneros (24th) and Javier Fragoso (35th) each scored in a 11-minute span for the Tricolor, which concluded the six-team tournament unbeaten with a 4-0-1 record (9 points).
April 12, 2008: The USA won its second consecutive CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament by topping Canada, 6:5, on penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw in the 2008 final at the Estadio Olímpico Benito Juarez in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico … After six rounds of penalties and a 5:5 deadlock, Heather O'Reilly gave the Stars & Stripes the lead in the seventh attempt, then the Maple Leafs' Brittany Timko's shot was saved by goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart … USA and Canada had already qualified for the Women's Olympic Football Tournament in Beijing, China, after defeating Costa Rica (3-0) and host Mexico (1-0) in the CONCACAF semifinals three days earlier in Ciudad Juarez.
April 13, 1996: The Federations of Anguilla, British Virgin Islands and Monsterrat were granted full CONCACAF Membership during the 20th Ordinary Congress held in Guadalajara, Mexico … Under the chairmanship of the Confederation President Jack Warner of Trinidad & Tobago, delegates from 33 CONCACAF-affiliated national associations attended the event held at Guadalajara's Fiesta Americana Hotel, which was also highlighted by the elections of Jack Warner, FIFA Executive Committee Member - Caribbean Zone; Guillermo Cañedo of Mexico, FIFA Exco Member - North American Zone; Guatemala's Rafael Salguero, CONCACAF Vice-President - Central American Zone; and Alan Rothenberg of USA, CONCACAF Executive Committee Member - North American Zone.
April 14, 2004: Costa Rican sides Deportivo Saprissa and LD Alajuelense posted home victories in their first-leg encounters of the 2004 CONCACAF Champions' Cup Semifinals … Andres Nuñez (50th) and Alonso Solis (71st) scored for Deportivo Saprissa in the 2-0 win over the USA's Chicago Fire at the Estadio Nacional in San José, while Brayan Ruiz (3rd) notched the game-winner for LD Alajuelense in the 1-0 triumph against CF Monterrey of Mexico at Alajuela's Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto … In the second-leg encounters seven days later, Deportivo Saprissa lost 2-1 to the Chicago Fire, while LD Alajuelense held CF Monterrey to a 1-1 draw after extra time to see both squads progress to the first-ever all-Costa Rican Final the following month.
April 15, 1999: Goals from Luis Gonzalez, Daniel Osorno, Eduardo Rodriguez and Juan Pablo Rodriguez gave Mexico a 4-1 triumph over defending champion Argentina during the 1999 FIFA U-20 World Cup 'Round-of-16' at Liberty Stadium in Ibadan, Nigeria … Elsewhere, a pair of goals from Taylor Twellman wasn't enough for the USA as they lost 3-2 to the eventual champion Spain at Port Harcourt's Liberation Stadium … Mexico's run at the FIFA U-20 World Cup ended three days later in the quarterfinals with a 2-0 loss to Japan at Liberty Stadium.
April 16, 1964: El Salvador captured the 1964 CONCACAF Youth (now Under-20) Championship in Guatemala City, Guatemala,with a 1-0 win over Honduras to finish atop the four-team final round group (that included Netherlands Antilles and host) with six points (3-0-0 record) … Prior to reaching the final round, the Cuscatlecos finished second in Group A with a 2-1-1 record (5 points) during the opening round, which was won by Guatemala (4-0-0, 8 points) … El Salvador's Guillermo Ramirez was the top scorer in the nine-team tournament with five goals
