March 27, 1935: Vicente Garcia, Hilario Lopez and Tomas Lozano scored two goals each, while Luis Garcia Cortina and Julio Lores added one apiece for Mexico in its 8-1 victory over host El Salvador in the final round of 1935 Central American & Caribbean Games Football Tournament at San Salvador's Estadio Flor Blanca … The victory would be the first of five consecutive in the six-team group for the Tricolores as they went on to capture the gold medal.
March 28, 1999: Goals by Steven Bryce (14th), Randall Row (42nd), Rolando Fonseca (44th) and Paulo Wanchope (54th) led host Costa Rica to a 4-0 triumph over El Salvador and the 1999 Copa de Naciones UNCAF (now Copa Centroamericana) championship at the San José's Estadio Nacional … The Ticos claimed its third Central American title on goal difference (+4) over Guatemala (+1) and Honduras (+1) after all three teams ended the final group with six points each.
March 29, 2006: Mexico's Club América eliminated LD Alajuelense of Costa Rica in the 2006 CONCACAF Champions' Cup semifinals following a scoreless draw in the second-leg held at Mexico City's Estadio Azteca … The Aguilas won the first-leg in Alajuela, Costa Rica, 2-1, six days earlier … Club América would then defeat CD Toluca (2-1 aet) the following month in an all-Mexican final at the Estadio Azteca to claim its fifth Champions' Cup crown.
March 30, 1980: Costa Rica qualified for its first Olympic Football Tournament by finishing first with a 2-1-1 record in the 1980 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Final Round after a 3-2 victory over host Surinam at the SV Robinhood Stadium in Paramaribo … Jorge White scored twice, while Rodolfo Mills added another for the Ticos, who progressed to Olympic Games in Moscow (1980), alongside Cuba, who replaced the CONCACAF's second-place finisher USA, which withdrew from the tournament.
March 31, 1996: After obtaining its first win in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying seven days earlier, the Dominican Republic completed the home-and-away Caribbean First Round sweep of the host Aruba with a 3-1 triumph in the return-leg at Oranjestad's Complejo Deportivo Guillermo Prospero Trinidad …Dinardo Rodriguez, Pedro Aquino and Cristian Queliz all scored for the Quisqueyanos, who had earlier won the first-leg 3-2 in Santo Domingo … The Dominican Republic continued its FIFA World Cup Qualification (for France 1998) road by eliminating Netherlands Antilles in the second round two months later, however, its run ended in the third round losing to Trinidad & Tobago in June.
