 CCL to kick off today
The fourth season of the CONCACAF Champions League will kick off Tuesday when San Francisco of Panama hosts the Seattle Sounders, and Costa Rica's Herediano hosts Alpha United of Guyana.
The first legs of the Preliminary Round continue through Thursday, with 16 teams vying for eight slots in the Group Stage. The second legs will be played the following week on August 2-4.
This year's Champions League features six first-time qualifiers: Alianza FC, Alpha United, Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, Monarcas Morelia and Tempete FC.
It also will welcome four teams that have qualified for every CCL since its inception in 2008: Isidro Metapan, CD Olimpia, The Puerto Rico Islanders and San Francisco FC. For a complete schedule, please visit the Champions League home page.

 U-20 World Cup starts on Friday
The FIFA Under-20 World Cup will begin Friday in Colombia when Panama faces Austria and Mexico meets Argentina, two of four opening day matches.
Two days later, CONCACAF runner-up Costa Rica will play Spain in Manizales while Guatemala faces Nigeria in Armenia.
The first round will continue through August 6 and the final will be played on August 20.

 Trinidad, St. Kitts advance in Olympic qualifying
Trinidad & Tobago and St. Kitts & Nevis joined Cuba in the final round of Caribbean qualifying for the London Olympics, leaving one berth open among four teams.
Marcus Joseph scored for a third straight game and led Trinidad to a 4-0 victory over host Dominica on Saturday that advanced the Soca Warriors.
The victory finished Trinidad with seven points atop Group B, just ahead of Curacao, which defeated Grenada 2-0 earlier Saturday, on goal difference.
On Monday, Devaughn Elliott tallied in the 88th minute and St. Kitts used a home advantage to beat Haiti 2-1 to claim the Group D title. The only berth still undecided is Group A in Paramaribo, Suriname, which will pit St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands and the host August 3-7.

 United States open Milk Cup with victory, Mexico falls
The United States under-18 national team opened the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland with a 2-0 win over Israel on Monday. Omar Salgado and Jerome Kiessewetter scored for the Americans.
The Mexican U-18 fell 2-1 to Georgia with Alejandro Leyva Espinoza scoring the lone goal for El Tri.
