CONCACAF CHAMPIONAS LEAGUE QUARTERFINAL TEAMS SET
The quarterfinalists are set for the 2009-10 CONCACAF Champions League, with the last berth decided in the final match of the Group Stage. The eight survivors will resume play in March.
Pachuca beat Arabe Unido on Wednesday (October 21) 2-0 to finish atop Group A with 15 points. Despite the loss Arabe Unido qualified as the second-place finisher in the group with 10 points, three better than the Houston Dynamo. The MLS side missed its chance to return to the quarterfinals with a 3-2 loss to Metapan in El Salvador later the same night.
Group B came down to the final match day when Toluca won the group and advanced the quarterfinals with a 1-1 draw at home to D.C. United on Tuesday (October 20). A day later Marathon claimed the second berth with a 4-2 win at San Juan Jabloteh.
Cruz Azul completed its unbeaten Group Stage run (5-1-0) with a 2-1 win at Saprissa. The result in Costa Rica coupled with the 1-1 draw in Puerto Rico between the Columbus Crew and the Islanders gave the MLS side a ticket to the quarterfinals.
Finally in Group D, the already qualified Pumas fell 2-1 to Comunicaciones in Guatemala on Thursday (October 22), a result that earned Comunicaciones a berth in the next round.

CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUARTERFINAL DRAW SET FOR NOVEMBER 17
Quarterfinalists in the CONCACAF Champions League will learn their knockout-round opponents on November 17 when the draw at the confederation's New York headquarters will set the pairings for the final eight.
The group winners will be drawn against one of the four teams that finished in second place, with no team playing another that it faced in the Group Stage in the two-leg series.
The teams that finished second will host the first leg of the quarterfinals the week of March 9-11, with the group winners hosting the second leg the week of March 16-18.
The potential pairings for the semifinals, to be played the weeks of March30-April 1 and April 6-8, also will be set with the winners advancing to the finals April 20-22 and April 27-29.
MEXICO KNOCKS OFF BRAZIL 1-0 IN UNDER-17 WORLD CUP
While CONCACAF's four teams struggled in the opening round of games of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Nigeria, Mexico achieved the tournament's biggest surprise to date knocking off Brazil 1-0 in its second Group Stage game on Tuesday (October 27).
Mexico had opened up its participation in Group B by losing to Switzerland 2-0 on Saturday (October 24) in Lagos, Nigeria. Mexico will now look to qualify to the next round on Friday, October 30 against Japan.
Honduras fell 1-0 to Argentina in the first match of Group A on Saturday (October 24) before losing to hosts Nigeria by the same margin on Tuesday (October 27). Los Catrachos faces Germany on Friday, October 30.
Costa Rica was the only CONCACAF side to manage a point so far with a 1-1 draw against New Zealand on Sunday (October 25). The Central American side will now face Turkey on Wednesday (October 28).
The United States fell 2-1 to Spain on Monday (October 26) in a match where they scored a goal in the fourth minute and played with a man advantage for 88 minutes. The Americans will face Malawi on Thursday (October 29).
The final will played on Sunday, November 15.
