The United States is only one of two CONCACAF nations to be able to claim it has won an Olympic medal in men's soccer. It claimed both the silver and bronze in 1904 when the tournament was contested by club teams, and they finished behind a Canadian side from Ontario. More recently, it has played in every Olympics since 1980 - when it qualified but withdrew due to the U.S.-led boycott - except 2004. After years of utilizing college players under the U-23 format, the Americans will for a second time be using a complete professional roster including players such as Juan Agudelo and Brek Shea, who have seen considerable time with the senior U.S. team.
