Few have been as influential in the development of youth and women's soccer in our region as English-born Mavis Derflinger, the first woman to be inducted into the CONCACAF Hall of Fame. A former coach, she was the first female member of the USSF Board of Directors and is a former Chair of the U.S. Youth Soccer Association. Among her many achievements, Derflinger's efforts were integral in securing funding for a U.S. under-19 women's team in the early 1990s, which included many of the players who would go on to win the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup.
