Few people can have been as influential in the development of youth and women's soccer in our region as English-born Mavis Derflinger. Derflinger became the first woman to be inducted into the CONCACAF Hall of Fame. A former coach, she was the first female member of the USSF Board of Directors and is a former chair of the US Youth Soccer Association. Among her many achievements, Derflinger's efforts were pivotal in securing funding for a US Under-19 Women's team in the early 1990's which included many of the players who would go on to win the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup™.
