Dr. Gerard Bean was President of the Bermuda Football Association for an unprecedented 18 years before stepping down in 1987. An optometrist by profession, Dr. Bean's other outstanding accomplishments include membership to the CONCACAF Executive Committee for 13 years, Presidency of the Bermuda Olympic Association (1971-1987) and membership to the FIFA Medical Committee and FIFA Board of Appeals. In 1977 he was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) by H.M. The Queen.
