The late Guillermo Cañedo of Mexico was a major figure in world football in whom the whole of CONCACAF took pride. Mr. Cañedo served the best interests of Mexican football, CONCACAF and FIFA throughout a long and distinguished career. At the time of his death, he was Senior Vice-President of FIFA and its longest serving Executive Committee member. But of all his accomplishments, the most unique is that of being President of the host nation Organizing Committee of two FIFA World Cups, in 1970 and 1986.
