Kurt Lamm served U.S. soccer in a multitude of capacities after emigrating from his native Austria. Initially as a player, then coach and then, in the post war years, as Secretary of the American Soccer League which not only reached a high standard of play but also served to bring in major teams from overseas to a football-hungry population. Later, with his command of languages, worldwide contacts and knowledge of the game, he became General Secretary of the national association until his untimely death in office.
