NEW YORK - A planned meeting of the Gold Cup organizing committee to consider the situation of Mexico's five suspended players has been postponed while more information is gathered, CONCACAF said Friday.

The committee has asked the Mexican federation to provide more details regarding the doping tests that discovered the banned substance clenbuterol in the urine samples of five players taken during a pre-Gold Cup training camp in Mexico in May.

Mexico provisionally suspended the five on Thursday after learning the results of the test.

The Mexican federation has requested it be allowed to replace the five, but since the regulations do not permit that except for injury more than 24 hours before a team's first game, it would need to show extraordinary circumstances for the committee to consider such an appeal.
