The entire CONCACAF family offers our most heartfelt condolences to Miguel Calero's family, friends and loved ones and extends sympathy for the recent passing of one of the best goalkeepers in Mexican football of our time and a key player of Pachuca CF. After an impressive path in international football, we are proud of Calero's legacy throughout the course of his short life. The region has not only lost a great talent, but, foremost, a great human being. We hope his family may find consolation in the fervent admiration and expression of condolences from his many followers. Colombian-born Calero was captain of Pachuca in Mexico. With the Tuzos, he won four national championships, three CONCACAF Champions Cups, one Copa Sudamericana and one SuperLiga. On October 23, 2011, Calero played his last game with Pachuca and retired from football. Calero was hospitalized on November 26, 2012, after suffering from a cerebral thrombosis at his home in Pachuca. After suffering a second cerebral thrombosis episode, Calero was pronounced dead on Tuesday. Today, the entire Confederation mourns the loss of a remarkable individual, a fantastic athlete and a loyal friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
