INFORMATION: MIAMI BEACH, Florida -- As a central component of its continued transformation, CONCACAF announced Tuesday the creation of new committees, following an Executive Committee meeting at the confederation's office in Miami Beach, Florida.
Plans were unveiled for the appointment of three committees: Integrity, Audit & Compliance and Ethics. Each of these bodies will play a pivotal role in CONCACAF's reform, while establishing the road map for its future.
"The creation of these committees is the next logical step in the transformation of CONCACAF, demonstrating that we are committed to transparency and reform," said CONCACAF President, Jeffrey Webb, who was elected at the CONCACAF Congress on May 23 in Budapest, Hungary. "We are working meticulously with professionals possessing competence and integrity to fill positions on each committee.
"The Integrity Committee will be completely independent and will be free to carry out their respective mandates."
The names of committee chairs and members will be revealed over the coming weeks.
The Executive Committee also approved Panama City, Panama, as the location for the next Extraordinary Congress that will be held later this year.As previously disclosed at last month's Congress, the gathering in Central America will devote special attention to governance, audit and revision of CONCACAF's statutes to ensure that they are in compliance with FIFA requirements.
"The congress in Panama will be a decisive event in the confederation's history," commented Webb.
