OTTAWA - Vancouver, the site of CONCACAF Olympic Women's Qualifying in January, was one of six cities selected as host venues for the 2015 Women's World Cup in Canada, the Canadian Soccer Association announced Friday.

The Canadian capital of Ottawa; Montreal; Edmonton, Alberta; Moncton, New Brunswick; and Winnipeg, Manitoba, also were announced at a Parliament Hill ceremony attended by Canada's Minister of Sport Bal Gosal and FIFA President Sepp Blatter.

Friday's announcement comes more than a year after Canada was chosen as the host country for the seventh edition of the quadrennial championship.
It will be the third time a CONCACAF nation has staged the event, following the United States in 1999 and 2003.

Canada also will host the 2014 Under-20 Women's World Cup. The venue cities for that tournament will be announced by the end of the year, FIFA said in a statement on its website.
