NEW YORK - Defending champion Mexico will host the 2013 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship finals in Puebla, while Panama will stage next year's U-17 finals in Panama City, the confederation announced Tuesday.
The February 18-March 2 U-20 championship will mark the fourth time Mexico has hosted all or part of the tournament finals, while it will be the first time Panama has hosted the U-17 finals, set for April 6-19.
Estadio Cuauhtemoc, home of Mexican first-division club Puebla and a venue for the 1970 and 1986 World Cups as well as the 2008 CONCACAF U-17 Women's Championship, will be one of two venues used for the U-20 championship. The other will be Estadio Universitario Lobos BUAP, which is home to the second-division club which shares its name.
Panama will divide the U-17s between Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City and the Estadio Agustin Muquita Sánchez in La Chorrera.
Both tournaments will feature a 12-team field, with Canada, Mexico and the United States automatically qualified from North America, Central America allocated four berths and the Caribbean five.
Four teams each will qualify for their respective World Cups, with the U-20 championship set for Turkey and the U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
