NEW YORK -- Isaac David Sasso Sasso, a former member of both the FIFA and CONCACAF Executive Committees, passed away Tuesday from natural causes in Costa Rica. He was 85.

Sasso enjoyed a distinguished career as a corporate professional and football executive.

"We have tremendous respect for Isaac David Sasso Sasso's service to CONCACAF and are thankful for his friendship," said CONCACAF President Jack Warner. "We will miss him."

After building an exceptional reputation as a businessman in Costa Rica, Sasso brought similarly strong qualities to his work in domestic and international football for nearly 30 years.

The president of four different companies over his career, Sasso became the Director of Costa Rican side CS Herediano in 1977. He developed that club successfully and he was elected President of the Costa Rican Football Federation thirteen years later, serving until 1998 in that post.

Also in 1990, Sasso became Vice President of CONCACAF and was elected to the FIFA Executive Committee. In February 2007, he stepped down from both committees due to health reasons.

Sasso is survived by his wife Helen, son Alfredo and three grandchildren.
