The clubs on Monday also extended the contract of General Secretary Decio de Maria.
Compean was the president of Necaxa for six years before being elected president of the FMF in 2006.
"Proposals for president Compean as well as yours truly to continue were accepted and as you can all see there were two people absent," de Maria said. "But Club Santos sent written comments and Club America was present via a teleconference in which all of the assembly was able to interchange points of view and at the end all 18 clubs accepted the proposal for president Compean and myself to continue."
The announcement comes the same day as the federation board decided to have Cruz Azul manager Enrique Meza coach the Mexican national team for its August 11 friendly against Spain, and then have Chivas vice president Efrain Flores take over for three matches on an interim basis until a permanent replacement for Javier Aguirre can be chosen.
"What's next? Now president Compean and I have to create a four-year project that will be presented to the assembly in two-to-three months and we will make the commentaries and administrative reforms that we consider necessary, and that will happen at the end of October or early November," de Maria said.
The board also formally approved the experimental use of two additional goal-line linesman in the Mexican first division, continuing tests sanctioned by the International Football Association Board that were first tried in last season's Europa League.
