After Sebastián Abreu gave Uruguay a 1:0 lead in the 21st minute, Cuauhtémoc Blanco leveled it for Mexico via a penalty kick 16 minutes later.
In the second half, Omar Bravo and José Andrés Guardado scored in the 68th and 75th minutes, respectively, for Mexico in the victory over Uruguay.
This is the third time in history that Mexico captures the third-place honours at the Copa América having done so in 1997 and 1999.
