Goals from Ricardo Cousins, Kemmar Daley, John-Ross Doyley and James Thomas gave Jamaica (3-0-0, 9 Points) a 4:0 win over Haiti (0-2-1, 1 Point) and first-place in Group C at the Zico Football Center. Meanwhile, in the other Group C encounter on Saturday, Argentina (0-1-2, 2 Points) played Colombia (1-1-1, 4 Points) to a scoreless draw at the Miécimo da Silva Sport Complex.
In Group B action on Saturday at the Maracanã Stadium, second half goals by Enrique Alejandro Esqueda and Rodolfo Del Real led Mexico (2-0-1, 7 Points) to a 2:0 triumph against the USA (1-2-0, 3 Points) and a spot in the semifinals.
Another team with a place in the semifinals was Bolivia (2-0-1, 7 Points) after topping Venezuela (0-3-0, 0 Points) by a score of 2:0 to claim first-place honours in Group B at the Zico Football Center. Bolivia edged out Mexico for the top spot in the group on total goal scored tiebreaker (7 to 5).
Elsewhere, Ecuador (2-0-1, 7 Points) won the Group A crown on Saturday after defeating the hosts, Brazil (2-1-0, 6 Points) by a score of 4:2 at the Maracanã Stadium. In the other group encounter at the Miécimo da Silva Sport Complex, Johnny Harald Leveron scored twice for Honduras (1-2-0, 3 Points) in the 2:1 win over Costa Rica (0-2-1, 1 Point).
The men's tournament at the 2007 Pan American Games continue on Tuesday (24 July) with the semifinals at the Maracanã Stadium with Jamaica taking on Mexico and then Bolivia facing Ecuador.
The bronze and gold medal games will take place on 27 July also at Maracanã Stadium.
