Jamaica lost the final match of the men's under-20 football tournament at the 2007 Pan American Games by a score of 2:1 to Ecuador at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Friday.

Eric Vernon opened the scoring for Jamaica in the fifth minute, but Ecuador received goals from Jefferson Montero and Edmundo Zura in the 79th and 84th minutes, respectively, in the victory.

This is the first-ever gold medal for Ecuador in the men's tournament at the Pan American Games, while Jamaica are the first Caribbean nation since Cuba in 1979 to win a silver medal at the event.

Earlier on Friday, Enrique Alejandro Esqueda scored for Mexico in the 1:0 triumph over Bolivia in the bronze medal game at the Maracanã Stadium.

This is the second consecutive bronze for Mexico and they have also claimed a medal in the men's tournament at every Pan American Games since 1991 (1991 - Silver, 1995 - Silver, 1999 -Gold, 2003 - Bronze).
